a psych ward memoir by Bela Z.
This is the entirety of THE BLEAK TIMES as it is written.
You may notice that the image coloration & quality shifts dramatically at a certain point. Unfortunately, I lost access to the scanner I used for the first few days. Someday I would like to rescan it in its entirety, but I don’t have the time to do so at the moment.
Bela & I were psych ward twins, BPDemon transgender ketamine fiends hospitalized for attempting suicide. Whether by chance or fate, we were brought together & immediately became inseparable. She discharged before me, headed to out-of-state residential, & gave me her journal to publish. THE BLEAK TIMES tells a sad story with a vague, pessimistic ending, but it’s only one brief chapter of our lives. Fortunately, neither of them ended here. We hope you find this strange piece of art to be illuminating, relatable, bizarre, humorous, fascinating, & disturbing. THE BLEAK TIMES is an exercise in vulnerability–without an audience, it cannot be called art. Thank you for your contribution to this project.
TW: suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, drug use, hospitals/psych wards, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria
